The idea for Outdoor Shop Day™ came after Patrick Raftery and Eric Maki read about, and participated in, Record Store Day™ 2010 (www.recordstoreday.com). They saw an immediate need for a day to celebrate all that the Outdoor Shops bring to the outdoor community.

Outdoor Shop Day™ is, and always will be, all about the Independent Outdoor Retailers. It is the one day each year that local ski shops, bike shops, hunting/fishing stores, skate shops, camping stores, golf pro-shops, running stores, swim shops, dive shops, come together with Outdoor Enthusiasts, Professional Adventurists, Celebrities, and Manufacturers for a common purpose – the celebration of the local independent outdoor shop.

Outdoor Shop Day™ 2011 will be held on May 14, 2011. Each year thereafter, it will be held on the 3rd Saturday of March.
